Poynton Horticultural & Agricultural Society Ltd is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of its staff, volunteers and any others who may be affected by its activities. The following sets out the general approach for managing health and safety.
The Society will comply with all relevant legislation and follow best practice.
The Society will ensure that sufficient resources are provided to ensure its health and safety obligations are met.
All those who carry out the Society’s activities have a responsibility not to endanger themselves or others.
Health and safety is the responsibility of all persons at all levels and adequate support will be provided to enable all to fulfil these responsibilities.
The Society will provide strong and active health and safety leadership and encourage involvement at all levels of all its activities.
To comply with relevant health and safety legislation the Society will:

All horses must have been vaccinated to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 – 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose.
Horses must have been vaccinated within 6 months before the show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the show.
In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born.
Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course.
We urge all owners to adhere to strict bio-security protocols at all times. Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians.

Poynton Show ground is a short, level walk from Poynton Town centre or a 30 minute walk from Poynton Railway Station
There are a variety of independent Bed & Breakfast hotels around Poynton, as well as a Travel Lodge a short drive along the B5092 towards Macclesfield.
